Garrison Keillor," scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 5. The second special event of the season will bring the charming, witty and always entertaining writer, humorist and celebrity speaker Garrison Keillor to the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5. Earl and Margie Holland for whom the Earl and Margie Holland School of Visual and Performing Arts at Southeast is named, have tagged "An Evening with Garrison Keillor" as their special choice event this season at the River Campus. Keillor is probably best known for his widely popular radio show "A Prairie Home Companion." The show attracts more than two million listeners on more than 450 National Public Radio (NPR) stations weekly. Keillor is also the host of the daily radio and online program, "The Writer’s Almanac," and a best-selling author of many books, including Lake Wobegon Days, Love Me and Homegrown Democrat. In 2006, Keillor appeared in the film adaptation of "A Prairie Home Companion." The film, directed by Robert Altman and with a cast including Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin and Kevin Kline, was received with critical acclaim. With continuing interest in his radio work and writings, Keillor remains one of the most popular storytellers of all time. True to his radio form, Keillor will share hilarious anecdotes about growing up in the American Midwest, the people of Lake Wobegon and “late-life fatherhood.” With a wonderful, dry sense of humor, he captivates audiences and delivers with class, charisma and wisdom. This event is not on any series and must be ordered separately. Master Series patrons will receive priority seating preference for this event. The River Campus Box Office located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 South Fountain Street, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached by phone at (573) 651-2265 or semo.edu/rivercampus/events.
