| Cape Alternative Farmers Market. April - August the market will be open Wednesdays at 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Shelter # 1 at Capaha Park. The market will feature Missouri-grown strawberries; farm-raised and pastured chickens, eggs and pork; gourmet lettuce and fresh-cut herbs; breads, cakes and pies; gourmet canned items; goat milk soap; plants; fruits and vegetables (watermelons, squash, sweet corn and peppers); and all-natural pork and beef. The market hours are from 2:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. It will be held every Thursday (rain or shine) from April 29th through November 18th on the Plaza Galleria parking lot, 2001 Independence Street. Items offered for sale have been grown or produced within a 75 mile radius of Cape Girardeau. Among the products that will be available are lettuce, asparagus, onions, radishes, herbs, pickles, relishes, jellies, honey, eggs, grass-fed beef and pork, walnuts, and lots of bedding plants and flowers. And, as always, there will be delicious baked goods. During the growing season there will be a wide variety of locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables as will as many specialty items.
