Are you ready for a week filled with fun rides, delicious food, and a variety of entertainment? The SEMO District Fair is just around the corner, and this year’s lineup of events and activities promises something for everyone. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the fair or a first-time visitor, here’s what you can look forward to:
Opening Day – September 7
Kick off the fair with a bang on opening day! Start your day with the annual fair parade at 9:30 AM, the route begins at Capaha Park and concludes at the SEMO Fairgrounds. Check out the official Activities Tent for free caricature drawings, the SEMO District Fair Queen Pageant, and Bingo throughout the day. Don’t miss the evening’s highlight—the Auto Tire & Parts NAPA Dual Demolition Derby at 6 PM.
Sunday Funday – September 8
Enjoy a day of diverse activities at the SEMO District Fair! Start in the Activities Tent with the Cape County Cowboy Church at 9 AM, then celebrate Latino Family Day from 1 PM to 6 PM with Mexican Bingo, a Mariachi band, games, piñatas, and more. Don’t miss the Garden Tractor Pull at 10 AM and the Antique Tractor Pull at 1 PM, or head to the Livestock Show Arena for draft horse judging and fun contests throughout the afternoon. There’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Monday Blues, No More – September 9
Ditch your Monday blues! Start your week with the dairy cattle show at 8 AM in the Livestock Show Arena, followed by draft mules and more at 9:30 AM on ball field #7. At 1:00 PM, head back to the Livestock Show Arena to catch the Holstein competition. End your day in the Grandstand watching local talent compete for the title of River Radio Heartland Idol, a FREE event starting at 7 PM.
Thrifty Tuesday – September 10
Celebrate Thrifty Tuesday at the SEMO District Fair with $20 carnival armbands for unlimited rides! Join the fun at the Activities Tent with look-alike contests starting at 6 PM and a live performance by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band at 8 PM. Don’t miss out on this exciting day.
Senior Day Wednesday – September 11
Calling all seniors! Wednesday is Senior Day, sponsored by Montgomery Bank. Watch livestock competitions beginning at 8:30 AM, including 4-H and FFA beef, swine, goats, and sheep shows. Enjoy Free Bingo from 10 AM to 2 PM and again from 6 PM to 8 PM, with “Name That Tune” from 2 PM to 4 PM. End the day with a lively Reckless Kelly concert at 8 PM. Thrifty (Part 2) Thursday – September 12
Missed out on Thrifty Tuesday? Don’t worry, Thrifty Thursday is here to make up for it with all gate admissions just $5! Live music from Southern Draw Band will fill the Activities Tent from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and Elton Dan and the Rocket Band will perform at 7:00 PM in the Grandstand. Catch a full day of livestock competitions, including Hereford and Simmental judging, poultry and rabbit shows, and the 4-H & FFA livestock sale. Don’t miss the Draft Horse & Mule Hitch judging at 4:00 PM!
Friday Fun for All – September 13
Join us for an action-packed day at the SEMO District Fair! Watch the 4-H and FFA Public Speaking Competition at 9:00 AM, then enjoy a full day of livestock judging, including Angus beef and mini mules. Catch the 4-H and FFA Tractor Rodeo at 10 AM and the cross-cut saw competition at 6:30 PM. Wrap up the evening with the Pro Pulling League Western Series Hot Rod Truck and Tractor Pull at 7 PM. Saturday Send-Off – September 14
Enjoy free caricature drawings and games for all ages at the Activities Tent from 12 PM to 7 PM. From 4 PM to 7 PM, join Dog Day to meet dogs from local shelters, see dog trainers, and watch the dog trick show! Also, catch the 4-H Clover Kids’ small animal show at 8:30 AM, and the Cornhole/Bags tournaments at 11 AM and 1 PM. The Pee Wee showmanship is at 2 PM in the livestock show arena. Don’t miss the grand finale of the Demolition Derby Day 2 that kicks off at 6 PM — grab your tickets now!
The SEMO District Fair is our favorite way to enjoy a week full of fair fun, food, and friends! We’re already looking forward to 2025—until then, we’ll be hoarding our taffy and dreaming of fried Oreos!
